The Parent as Coach Approach-DVD

If you file a proposed parenting plan and the other parent doesn’t respond, what do you do to move forward?

February 25th, 2010

Me son’s father and I are no longer together. We have a temporary parenting plan now, but it was just thrown together and needs to be revised. I filed a proposed parenting plan and had it certified mailed to the father but he refused to get it. It has been almost three months now and he has made no effort to even find out what I have filed (he is a very difficult person). What do I do now? Is something I can file to move on with out him?

Why do people answer PARENTING questions if they are NOT a parent?

January 23rd, 2010

If you are a parent, or an experienced child-care provider that is one thing to share your opinion. You have something to offer. I’m just trying to get a truthful answer, not some silly comment. If you are not a parent, is your answer based on your observations? What is your purpose for answering a parenting question? Is it for research purposes?
I appreciate the honest answers given. I was simply curious-that’s all. Just because I have driven a car for 17 years does not make me feel qualified to answer mechanical questions. Again, thank you to those who answered my question without being a smart-alec.

Her parenting style is completely contrary to the way you parent and believe, do you catch yourself judging her as a bad parent?

Why are people required to take parenting classes before they become a foster parent, but not a blood parent?

October 2nd, 2009

Why is it that the law requires people to take parenting classes before they become a foster parent, but..
When a couple is expecting a biological child, the law doesn’t require them to take any classes.

That sounds one-sided to me; shouldn’t all soon-to-be-parents be held to the same standards?
Why are temporary parents required to do stuff that permanent parents dont have to do?
I would think that permanent parents should have higher standards.
Why do the temporary parents have higher standards?
